McLaren W1 Launch

McLaren unveiled their latest flagship supercar, the W1, at the Tate Modern with a dazzling display of design and engineering across 3 huge screens. Collaborating with the talented team at Luke Halls Studio, I developed a motion template which gave designers the tools to create visually stunning sequences that could also tell a compelling story. This required an in-depth exploration of McLaren's performance-driven, premium brand language, ensuring every screen reflected the car maker’s cutting-edge ethos. I then went on to produce animation for 2 chapters of the show itself.

CLIENT: MCLAREN | ROLE: MOTION-DESIGN, MOTION TEMPLATE, DEVELOPMENT | MOTION DESIGNERS: JASON MOSS, BARBORA GILUTE, LUKE GEORGIOU, DUNCAN LAWFORD, GARETH WILLIAMS | PRODUCER: BRIDGET VUILLERMIN | PRODUCTION ASSISTANT: PEARL GERALD | CREATIVE DIRECTION: LUKE HALLS AND MARK TODD | SCRIPT WRITER: LEAH HULGIN

The event consisted of a huge wrap-around back-wall screen and two triangular LED screens, one above and one under the car itself.

Development

Using a 3D replica of the venue in Unreal Engine, we could interactively demo our designs from all angles.
